Travel: Rome in a Day

Rome in a day.jpg

Abendessen in Trastevere

Tram in Trafiken.

Sunday Coffee Talk #3 – Bucket List

colorblock (2)

For this weeks Coffee Talk I’ve decided to do a bucket list for summer 2018. There are so many things I always plan for the summer, but most times I forget about them. But not this year!! 😉 My lovely friend Anna inspired me to do this with her bucket list.

So… what do I want to do this summer?
  • Watch the stars
  • Do a road trip
  • Go hiking
  • Get a tan
  • Spend time at the sea
  • Go night swimming
  • Have a sleepover
  • Do a game night with friends
  • Watch the sun rise
  • Watch a sunset
  • Have a barbecue

What are your plans this summer?

Love, Chris

Ps: The dress is from Zara

Interior Ideas

pastelperfectpops

Just recently, I finished decorating my room. I decluttered and put everything in place. I also bought little plants at IKEA and decorated little bits and pieces in my room. Now I am finally happy with my interior, which is why I’ve decided to take some photos and post them here on my blog. Maybe it’s an inspiration to some of you  xx

Enjoy!

Chris goes beauty #2

IMG_2368-01

Today I will show you some of my recent beauty favourites. Personally, I love reading the recommendations of other people, so I thought it would be fun to do and also helpful to some of you.

Let’s get started…

IMG_2382-01J’aime my… Shampoo Shine & Highlight Blond Sublime – Franck Provost Paris

When I died my hair I needed a good hair care product specifically for blonde hair. This one is without silicones, so it doesn’t damage my hair as much as other products. I used to suffer from hair loss (mostly because of hormones) and using shampoos without silicones really helped me! The product works really great for my hair, so if you need something (not that expensive) for your coloured hair, I would recommend that you give this brand a try.

Gliss Kur Hair Repair – Schwarzkopf

This product is simply amazing. I use this for over a year now and it works great! You spray it into your towel-dry hair and then brush your hair afterwards. Firstly, you can brush your hair super easily which is perfect for me because my hair always gets knots after I wash it – this was such a struggle for me before a friend recommended this product to me! Moreover, my hair gets super soft and shiny when I use this product!! I simply love it..

IMG_2386-01Perfume „Oriental“ – Zara

I randomly found this perfume in the Zara Sale and I had to try it because I love oriental and sweet smells. The perfume is really cheap (4,95€ I believe) and it smells really nice. I love to wear it as an everyday-scent.

Coconut Passion Fragrance Mist – Victoria’s Secret

This must be one of my favourite smells of all time. If I had to choose one scent for the rest of my life it would be this one! It’s so sweet and nice, and if you spray the mist on your body after using a vanilla-scented body lotion it’s even more amazing! I basically do this every day because it smells so good, I am obsessed haha

IMG_2391-01Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara – Catrice

My lashes are quite short and straight, so it’s hard to find a good mascara to really bring out the best in them. This one works really well for my lashes and makes them look much longer than they actually are.

Fit me! Concealer – Maybelline New York

I am using this concealer for years now, and it has never disappointed me. I always re-buy it because it’s just the best concealer for my skin. No other concealer that I have tried has such good coverage.

Hemp Heavy-Duty Lip Care – The Body Shop

This lip balm is super moisterizing and is honestly the best lip balm I have tried so far! If you tend to get dry lips as I do in winter, try this! It works really really well.

That’s about it for today. Did you try any of these? Write me what you think!

Until next time,

Christine

The little things

My friend Magdalena took these two pictures in Halifax (here is her photography page). At the moment, I am reeeally missing Halifax & the people there. I especially miss the independence and freedom that I have felt there. Here at home, nothing seems as if it has changed, but I feel like I have changed so much – it doesn’t quite fit at the moment I guess. However, this post shouldn’t be about what I miss about Halifax – it should evoke happy feelings!

People (myself included) tend to oversee the little things that we should all be grateful for. In 2018, I will try to be more thankful for the small details that I took for granted until now… So here is a list:

The feeling of sunshine on salty skin. Beaches. Eating porridge for dinner. Sweet meals. Clean sheets. Cute cafés. Love & saying I love you to someone. Music that instantly gets you. New friends who feel like you have known them forever. Flowers. Showers.

French. Laughing with the right people. Change. Sunrises & early mornings. Jumping on trampolines. Ice skating in winter. Mountains & lakes. Maps. People who radiate positivity. 3 a.m. conversations. (Shooting) Stars & looking at them.

Rooms with big windows. Sam Smith songs. Car drives while it’s raining.

Taking chances. Taking risks. Green tea. Almonds. Being able to see colours. Being able to run. The moon & how large it looks sometimes. Lying on your bedroom floor while thinking about life. Overwhelming feelings. Daydreaming. Trying new recipes.

Independency. All the times when the sky looks infinite. 90s hits. Driving with the windows down & sticking your hand out to feel the air. Naps. Summer nights. Letters.

Hot chocolate. Taking time for self-care. Bad years (because then you appreciate the good ones that follow). Dancing. Summer rain. When it starts to smell like spring.

This post inspired me to write this.

I hope you also feel a little inspired now.

Much love, Christine

I love accessories! They allow you to wear the same clothes, but with different jewellery/scarfs/bags/shoes/etc. your outfit will get a whole new vibe. When I was in New York the past week, I basically wore the same coat every day. However, I used different accessories. Each day, I changed up the scarf, my earrings and my shoes.

In the photos above, you can see one of the variations of my NYC Outfit. In the pictures below, you will find the links to where you can buy the scarf and the earrings. The rest of the outfit is featured in this blog post.

Comfy fall outfit: November

IMG_2327_edited

Big sweaters

Scented candles

Tea

Fuzzy socks

Pumpkin soup

All of these things perfectly describe autumn for me. I have such a deep love for this season, especially for November. The leaves are falling off of the trees, and Christmas time is coming up. (My favourite time of the year to be honest!)

Fall in North America also means two things: Thanksgiving and Black Friday. This past Friday, I experienced my first real Black Friday. Some lines were crazily long (one of my friends waited 50 minutes in line at Sports Check), but I guess it was okay in comparison to other shopping malls.

Today, I want to share three of the things that I have purchased with you: an oversized sweater, a necklace and rings. Everything you need for a cute, but comfy fall outfit!

You can purchase those things here:

Sweather: Zara (Size S)

Necklace: H&M (Similar one)

Rings: H&M (Size XS/S)

Earrings: ? (Similar ones: 1 2 3)

Where did you buy your favourite fall sweater? I’d love to hear about it!

4 things to do in Cape Breton

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Over the thanksgiving weekend, I was invited to my friend Brittany’s home in Cape Breton. We did many things and saw a lot of Canada’s nature on this trip, which is why I wanted to share four of my favourite things to do there:

1. Drive along the Cabot Trail

The Cabot Trail is a drive along the north of the island. The views along this drive are unquestionably mesmorizing, the scenery is just incredible. It felt like a mixture of Ireland and France combined. On one side, you can see the cliffs and the ocean, on the other, there are endless woods painted in green, orange and bright red colours.

Moreover, the small villages you drive through are so lovely. My favourite place was Chéticamp, where you can eat at the restaurant Le Gabriel. Also, don’t miss out on the Gypsum Mines. They turned those mines into lakes, which look incredible as you can see on one of the pictures below.

100 per cent worth driving along.

2. Do the Ceilidh Coastal Trail

Another beautiful trail you can drive along! Again, the scenery is just amazing. I feel so free when I see green hills and the ocean. It always reminds me of the trip I did to Ireland four years ago.

When you drive along this trail, you should definitely check out Christie’s Look-Off, I believe that’s where I took my pictures.

3. Go to a square dance

I guess this one is pretty typical for people who live in Cape Breton. On our stay, we went to not only one but two square dances (my first ones ever), and it was so much fun! Just believe me and try it out, you won’t regret it.

4. Eat pancakes at the Shining Waters Bakery

This bakery in Mabou (btw one of the cutest places I have ever been to) has the best breakfast pancakes EVER. I am very picky when it comes to food, but this little restaurant did not disappoint me. The portions are huge, and the price is really okay. Also try their porridge bread! It may not be on the menu, just ask for it – it tastes amazing!

IMG_20171009_131039_233Processed with VSCO with preset

Whether you try the trails/restaurants that I have recommended or you experience the island on your own, one thing is for sure: Cape Breton is definitely worth visiting! The small villages, as well as the nature are incredibly beautiful & I will certainly come back one day.

Love, Christine

Peggy’s Cove

20170923_134142

It’s already been one whole month since I live here in Canada. The time is flying by so fast, it’s unbelievable. Even though I miss my friends, the life here feels so normal now & I don’t feel homesick at all. This experience has actually shown me that I am more grown-up and independent than I ever would have thought, and that I am ready to move away from Austria (as soon as I get my Bachelor haha).

I feel as if I have already learned so so much here – especially about myself and what I really want in life. Moreover, I finally have the time here to actually work on myself and the person I want to be, which I am really grateful for.

LRM_EXPORT_20170924_140250

All the memories and experiences I made here have taught me something, and I am looking forward to experiencing even more and going on new adventures here! … Like the little roadtrip we took to Peggy’s Cove last weekend.

Peggy’s Cove was lovely. The houses looked so cute, and walking around the big rocks by the lighthouse was incredible. The view from there was mesmorizing – dozens of rocks, the Atlantic ocean … I could sit there all day and just watch the waves as they crash into the waterfront!

20170923_124927LRM_EXPORT_20170923_220619-0120170923_12470620170923_14101520170923_134316

After some time, the sun even came out which made the whole place brighten up. This place was exactly what I imagined when I thought of Halifax when choosing my destination for the exchange semester – and I don’t regret it at all! I will never forget this day and this little adventure with our international group here.

20170923_15331620170923_152159

What are your thought on an exchange semester & moving to another country? I’d be really interested to know!

Also, I hope you enjoyed this post & my pictures!
